House Crab Spider (Philodromus dispar)
Philodromus dispar is an agile hunter. Both the males and the females reach body lengths of 4-5 mm.
They are variable in size and colour. The male is usually very dark even almost black with white edges. The females are yellow-brown.
The striking feature of the males are short slightly shining hairs.
The females lay their eggs in a cocoon attached to leaves.
They guard of the eggs until autumn when the young spiders hatch from the eggs.
The spider overwinter in the bark of dead trees.
