From both the English and scientific names one could conclude that this animal is red. But Deraeocoris ruber is rather variable and comes in colour shades of either reddish, orange or black.Its length is 6-8mm. Considering this is a member of the Miridae family, it is relatively wide.The nymph is black with red abdomen.
It feeds on a various plants, usually nettles and on small insects.
